LAHORE (Press conference) 7th Sept, 2020: The tour of England was very important for cricket, claims national cricket team chief selector and head coach Misbah-ul-Haq

According to reports of Baaghi TV, the national cricket team chief selector said, “We should have won the Test series 1-0 and the T20 series 2-0 on the tour. The results of the series will always be regretted.”

“Despite the results, we have found a lot of positive things in this series. Haider Ali has come from a whole system. The Test and T20 series dominated the game for a long time. There is always room for improvement in everything”, said Misbah-ul-Haq.

“Satisfied with the process in a year. We’ve identified areas where improvements are needed”, Misbah-ul-Haq.

“I was busy touring England so I was not involved in the process of appointing new coaches. I will sit with Nadeem Khan and talk to him about the whole process. I will talk where there is a need for improvement. Disappointment comes when the results are not what you want”, Misbah-ul-Haq.

“Babar Azam is in power, he makes his own decisions. The reaction from the dressing room in the second T20 should not have happened to me. I will try not to do this in the future. We know what to do in the future”, said Misbah-ul-Haq.

“I think Hafeez, Wahab and Shoaib Malik can walk up to the World Twenty20. Wahab and Hafeez have convinced themselves”: Misbah-ul-Haq.

“When I took over the coaching, the performance of our T20 team was going down. We will try different combinations till the World Twenty20. It doesn’t matter who said what in the past or what was their opinion. Professionals have to work together and respect each other’s opinions. When we talk about learning, they are talking about international cricket. When selecting a young player in a team, look at the players available”, continued Misbah-ul-Haq.

“Naseem Shah and Shaheen Afridi are currently the best available players in the country. The impression of Sarfraz Ahmed playing the last match is wrong. Sarfraz is still part of our plan”, Misbah-ul-Haq.

“It is everyone’s decision to leave the cricket committee. We have talked and the board wants departmental cricket to have something. The cricket board and the government should come up with a solution to departmental cricket”, added Misbah-ul-Haq.
