Sunday, July 5th: The tourism industry has not been shut down permanently, but has been reformed, Zulfi Bukhari. Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Syed Zulfi Bukhari has said that the institution has not been shut down permanently but is being reformed. Zulfi Bukhari said that 10% of the world’s GDP is on tourism while Pakistan is not even 3%. He said that Golden Handshake package has been given to PTDC employees. He said that policy and action plan has been made from 2020 to 2030. Pakistan has created its own brand which will be launched this year. The brand was supposed to launch on April 18 but could not because of Coronavirus. The Special Assistant said that Pakistan’s tourist destinations will be highlighted all over the world. Pakistan will host the D-8 Tourism Conference. Ministers from 8 countries including Turkey, Iran and Qatar will visit Pakistan. He said that work is also being done on marketing plan of Pakistan and 46 properties will be converted into three and four star hotels.
