Two nuclear realities. One acknowledged, the other feared.
In today’s time where power lies with the one controlling narratives, the Iran–Israel conflict has become more than just a regional standoff — it’s a mirror reflecting the hypocrisy of global politics. Why have we created chaos over Iran’s potential nuclear program, but ignore Israel’s existing nuclear arsenal? Why is Iran being sanctioned and threatened while Israel receives billions in aid, unquestioned support, and diplomatic cover?
This isn’t just a war between two I’s, Iran and Israel, it’s a story about the third I lurking beneath the shadows: influence. And at the center of it all stands the United States.
As Noam Chomsky said,
If the US were to recognise Israel as a state with nuclear weapons, US aid to Israel would be ILLEGAL since they were developed outside of international legal frameworks
America’s aid to Israel is a fact no one can turn a blind eye to. The big brother has been backing Israel monetarily and diplomatically. But why the strategic move of staying silent now?
What is the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT)?
It is a landmark international treaty aimed at preventing the spread of nuclear weapons and promoting peaceful uses of nuclear energy.
What is the the Symington and Glenn Amendments?
The Symington Amendment (1976) and the Glenn Amendment (1977) are U.S. laws that prohibit American military or economic aid to any country that acquires or transfers nuclear weapons or enrichment technology without being a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
Despite its open-secret status as a nuclear power, Israel has never signed the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT)—and under U.S. law, specifically the Symington and Glenn Amendments, this should legally ban it from receiving American military aid. Yet, billions continue to flow. Why? Because acknowledging Israel’s arsenal would trigger a legal and diplomatic crisis the U.S. isn’t willing to face—so it chooses silence over accountability. The big brother knows that he will land in hot water if the narrative that he has built is actually illegal.
Meanwhile, Iran, a signatory of the NPT, faces threats and global condemnation over potential nuclear ambitions. The reality is that one country builds in secret and gets rewarded; the other plays by the rules and is demonised. Western media aids this imbalance, rarely questioning Israel while framing Iran as the alleged aggressor.
This isn’t diplomacy—it’s the illusion of a rules-based order, where laws are not even bend, they’re straight up broken, not for justice, but for their very own geopolitical convenience. There is no such thing as the ‘rules-based order’. It’s a farce, and it further proves that there is and will always be ‘rules for thee, but not for me.’
After all, if the waters are troubled, how long will the surface remain calm?
