Popular video sharing app, Tik Tok, has introduced a new policy for users under the age of 18.
Significant changes have been made to the policy for users 18 years of age or younger, according to a statement issued by Tik Tok, according to media reports.
With the new changes to the Tik Tok app, not only will accounts for users 18 and under be made private instead of public, but has also decided to end the option to download videos for users’ up to 15 years old.
Tik Tok explained in a recent statement that it has changed the policy as a precautionary measure to ensure that children are securely connected to the platform and that parental concerns are removed.
According to Tik Tok, children 15 years of age and younger will no longer be able to use the Do It feature, while children between the ages of 16 and 18 will be able to use the feature.
The company further stated that the age will be determined on the date of birth entered at the time of account creation, and the affected accounts will be notified by notification.
