TikTok Jacking Up Tourism in Pakistan: Press report

Oct 25, 2021: The torrential increase in tourism has been quite visible in Pakistan over the past four to five years due to the efforts that law enforcement authorities have made in preventing and responding to doubtful situations.

Tourism was further accelerated with the help of the digital content creators, who explored various locations and showed the world the beauty within Pakistan.

Wreathed in the land of plains, mountain ranges, deserts, and coastal belts, Pakistan is no less than others for beautiful and mesmerizing places, making it an ideal destination for travellers. A significant number of local and international tourists being attracted, and Pakistan earning the title of number one travel destination in the world by Forbes in 2018 was valid proof.

When it allowed tourists to follow the passion of visiting beautiful locations in Pakistan, the content creators were also given an opportunity to explore and show the world the beauty of the country through their content.

The content creators have used almost all forms of digital media, mainly YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, but the new platform that attracted the masses and saw skyrocketing popularity is TikTok.

The app became the most downloaded app in 2020 and 2021 to date. It left behind every other platform in terms of following and became the first non-Facebook app to cross one billion active users. The rapid growth of the audience encouraged the content creators to take on the new form of content – short-form videos.

A prime example is Pakistani content creator Zunair Kamboh who belongs to a middle-class family, did wonders with his creative content on social media, especially on TikTok, where he has the most number of followers across his social media profiles – 3.5m. Zunair’s current subscribers on YouTube are 43000, around 103,000 followers on Instagram, and 3,300 on Facebook.

Just like other travel bloggers, Zunair is very passionate about exploring new places in Pakistan. Making short videos on TikTok, he was fond of travelling from the beginning as he lived in a hilly area. His videos are exciting and inspiring, which will indeed inspire you to plan a new adventure.

When he joined TikTok in 2019, he made a promise to the world to show the positive side of Pakistan, and with that intense passion, he now has an audience of more than 3.5 million followers on TikTok and 177+ million likes too. This clearly shows that this form of video is most popular among the other platforms.

Zunair is well-versed in all the routes and locations in Pakistan, particularly in the north, so it’s safe to say that his travel guide is both authentic and reliable for tourists. Despite giving a travel guide and exploring places on TikTok, Zunair arranges several tour camps on glorious and mesmerizing sites of Pakistan.

Facing irrational bans following some immoral content, TikTokers are now facing severe content development issues on different narratives. While being falsely criticized for only lip-syncing and mimicry, Zunair has clearly shown that TikTok is a platform with various categories for content making and can allow you to gain a vast audience.

As a result, it would not be incorrect to say that social media platforms such as TikTok are paving the way for people worldwide to discover new places, plan trips, and share information.

Visual storytelling is no longer just a passing fad, thanks to digital media’s numerous opportunities to monetize and publicize your content.
