TLP March: Sheikh Rashid’s attempt to negotiate

Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid attempts to negotiate with with proscribed Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan (TLP) as reported by Baaghi TV’s special correspondent Faaiz Chughtai.
According to details, the TLP march lodged the night at Azaadi Chowk and at the break of dawn started the march towards Imamia Colony. According to reports, six members of banned Tehreek-e-Labaik Pakistan have been killed since yesterday while two policemen died last night. About 15 Labeek members were injured in heavy police shelling near Shahdara. Those injured have been shifted to the hospital for medical treatment. The Central Council of banned Tehreek-e-Labaik says that we will go to Islamabad in any case and now all talks will be held in Islamabad before we have any talks with the government.
Baaghi TV reporter Faaiz Chughtai, who has been covering the protests of Tehreek-e-Labaik for the past several days, informed that Imamia Colony has been blocked with containers. Thousands of people are present in March, there is a heavy contingent of police and Rangers, there is also a large number of Rangers in Rana Town as the next possible clash may take place in Rana Town. So far the TLP members have removed all obstacles put up by the government and moved forward. Now the participants of TLP march are moving towards Kala Shah Kaku while the police continues to grow an aggressive attitude.

Tehreek-e-Labaik’s Shura says they we will take the deceased to Islamabad and sit there. Thousands of us have been severely injured, many have been shot, we are the guardians of the country, now only our respected leader Allama Hafiz Saad Hussain Rizvi will negotiate.
On the other hand, the spokesman of the banned TLP, Sajid Saifi, said that the worst use of force was made by the police. There are dozens of TLP march participants lying injured from MAO college to Dataa Darbar, a large number of people in the Namoos-e-Risalat march have also been injuried gravely while the police and Rangers are not even allowing to move the injured to the hospital. The claims of police officers embracing martyrdom while being run off by TLP vehicles is also absurd. The protesters did not have vehicles, it is all police propaganda. The police are attributing deaths of its personnel to our processions violence while it is actually a result of their own conflict.
Earlier, the first round of talks between the banned Tehreek-e-Labaik and the Punjab government ended in failure. According to Baaghi TV, TLP demanded that the negotiating committee of the Punjab government agree to the release of arrested TLP members, uplift the ban on TLP and terminate French ambassador’s entry into Pakistan. To this the negotiating committee of the Punjab government only agreed upon releasing members in the Punjab district while both the other matters are under the Federal Government’s authority. Thus TLP aims to go as far as Islamabad as they demand a complete negotiation with the Federal Government.
Earlier, when the march started last night, the police reached MAO College via Samanabad Chauburji. The police shelled the place resulting in the deaths of two members of Tehreek-e-Labaik while two policemen were also killed. According to the report, one of the TLP participants tried to climb the police containers and was arrested by the police.
On the other hand, the Prime Minister has called upon the Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid in view of the current situation in the country. Sheikh Rashid Ahmed arrived in Islamabad on an Air Blue flight PA213 from Sharjah where he aimed to watch Pak vs India cricket match. However, due to the beginning of the march towards Islamabad by the Tehreek-e-Libek and the fierce clashes, Sheikh Rashid had to return. Sheikh Rashid Ahmed had agreed with Tehreek-e-Labaik that the expulsion of the French ambassador would be discussed in parliament and the arrested workers would be released. The workers were released after the agreement but Hafiz Saad Rizvi is still in jail and the government is not releasing Hafiz Saad Rizvi despite court rulings.
On the other hand, it has been decided to seal Lahore completely from all sides. According to informed sources, it has also been decided to impose curfew in different areas in Lahore today. A major operation is being prepared against Tehreek-e-Labaik. It has also been decided to close Lahore’s grade station, during which power will be cut off across Lahore. Phone service in most areas will remain off. It has also been decided to suspend cable across Lahore.
Tehreek-e-Labaik has demanded the government to fulfill the agreement reached with us, expel the French ambassador and release Hafiz Saad Rizvi, the head of Labaik, if the government gives Tehreek-e-Lubaik Pakistan its constitutional right. Even if we try to stop its use, the government itself will be responsible for the serious situation in the country.
It is to be noted that Tehreek-e-Labaik was banned by the government. Hafiz Saad Rizvi, son of Allama Khadim Hussain Rizvi, was arrested on April 12 from Scheme Mor Chowk, Lahore. Police protested against Hafiz Saad Rizvi on April 16. Detained to stop because his talks with the government had failed and the movement to deport the French ambassador refused to back down.
After the arrest of Saad Rizvi, there was a commotion all over the country and the government banned Tehreek-e-Libek. Tehreek-e-Labeek has filed an appeal against the ban on which the government will decide. Hafiz Saad is still in jail and his party is prohibited.
