According to the report of Baaghi TV, the business community came to the fore on the decision of the Punjab government to keep the markets closed for a week during Eid. Merchants rejected the government’s announcement and announced to open shops.

Naeem Mir, leader of All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajiran, said that they reject Punjab governments notification of 9-day lockdown. The government killed traders at night by issuing long lockdown notifications on Eid days without consultation. It is a gross abuse.

Trade representatives from across Punjab will be present in the markets. Merchants will continue their business without fear. The job of the state is to provide employment, not to snatch it. We will fight state repression. Small traders cannot be left helpless.

Ajmal Baloch, leader of All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajiran, said that he would not accept the three-day lockdown before Eid. If locked down before Eid, shops will be forced to open. Has been cooperating with the government for 5 months. Now there is no scope for any kind of cooperation, we will not tolerate any kind of interruption in business for the next five days.

If there is an attempt to close the shops by force, they will strongly resist. Businesses have been closed on Saturdays and Sundays on the occasion of Eid. It’s weird that 50 people travel by bus but 4 people don’t stand in the shop.

The government should fire unelected advisers and ministers. Who will explain to these advisers that there is no gathering on this Eid? These unelected advisers are a headache for the people and businessmen.

Anjuman-e-Tajiran Multan also rejected the lockdown in Multan, announcing the opening of all small and big markets in Multan on Tuesday.

In other cities of Punjab including Faisalabad, Sialkot, Chakwal, Khushab, Mianwali, Jhelum, Gujarat, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Sahiwal, Okara and other cities, traders have also announced to open shops rejecting government lockdown.

Irfan Iqbal Sheikh, President, Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industries and members of the Executive Committee supported the demand for opening of markets and bazaars.

President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh has said that 8 days long lockdown will destroy employees and families of small traders. Opposing the Punjab government’s decision of 8 days lockdown, Irfan Iqbal Sheikh said that markets and markets will be opened on Eid-ul-Adha. He said that the government should announce the opening of markets and allow them to do business.
