Aug 12, 2021: According to a copy of a letter from Transport Canada authority, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has been given safety validation by Transport Canada. The safety audit has been successfully concluded, allowing PIA to operate to and from Canada.

The letter written by Transport Canada authorities to PIA Chief Executive Air Marshal Arshad Malik addresses the subject of the closure of Safety Validation and Airworthiness Audit being conducted by the Transport Canada authority on PIA.

According to the letter, a Transport Canada Safety Validation and Air Worthiness desk Audit was conducted on PIA from August 24 2020 to September 24, 2020.

The letter states that Transport Canada accepts that PIA has conducted corrective actions to address the findings generated by Transport Canada Foreign Operations Division Airworthiness Audit of Specific ICAO Airworthiness elements dated August 26, 2020.

Following the implementation of corrective measures, all of the Airworthiness findings are closed. The letter further states that Transport Canada recognizes that other long term systematic changes have been implemented both in flight and air worthiness operations over the past year to improve and enhance safety in PIA.

Transport Canada says that the successful completion of this Safety review and audit supports the expectation that PIA will continue to conduct safe and compliant operations while providing air transport service to Canada under the authority of the FAOC.

The letter concludes saying that Transport Canada will continue to carry out surveillance and oversight activities PIA operations in Canada which will allow the Transport Canada authority to evaluate the effectiveness of long term corrective action plans by PIA.

Accordingly, the Transport Canada Safety Validation and air worthiness desk audit on PIA is hereby closed.
