Erdogan says Turkey cannot abandon ties with Russia or Ukraine

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan says that Turkish army will soon carry ‘ground and air military operation’ in the east of the Euphrates River.

According to a report published in Al-Jazeera, addressing the AK Party’s annual meeting, Tayyip Erdogan said that we would conduct ground and air military operations.

“All our preparations in this regard are complete, the operation plan is also complete and necessary instructions have been given,” the Turkish president said.

It should be remembered that the Turkish President said last week that Ankara had done a lot of work individually for the formation of ‘safe zones’, which borders Syria’s northeastern border, but the United States has taken considerable delays.

However, there are differences between Washington and Ankara over the boundary of the ‘safe zones’. On the other hand, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) responded that they would react in the face of any attack.

Turkey’s main opposition party, the Republican People’s Party (CHP), said that Damascus should play its role in any actions taken by Turkey in setting up the ‘safe zone’.

It should be noted that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had said that Turkey would fight against ISIS after withdrawing from the United States, following the change of US policy in September and the withdrawal of military troops from Syria.

At that time, the Turkish president also announced the start of a massive operation to end the control of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) along the Euphrates River in northern Syria, and said it could start at any time. After a conversation with the US president, he now indicated a delay.
