Twitter pays tribute to Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah

Lahore, 9th July: Today marks the 53rd Death Anniversary of the ‘Mother of the Nation’, Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah.

According to Baaghi TV, the whole nation is observing the 53rd death anniversary of Madar-e-Millat, Fatima Jinnah today with respect.

Fatima Jinnah stood side by side with her brother Muhammad Ali Jinnah during the Freedom Movement for Pakistan. Miss Jinnah was very close to her brother and took an active part in the Pakistan Movement, supporting the two-nation theory and strongly opposing the British Raj.

She co-founded the Pakistan Women’s Association which played an integral role in the settlement of the women migrants in the newly formed country. Her efforts later won her the titles of Khatoon-e-Pakistan and Mader-e-Millat.

Fatima died in Karachi on 9 July 1967 at the age of 71. Though her cause of death is said to be heart failure, rumors were rife that she was murdered at her house.

The nation pays its tribute to the Mother of Nation every year.

In answer to her tweet, the renowned anchor and host of the program Current Affairs, Imran Khan tweeted, “Do you remember Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s (ZAB) words on Fatima Jinnah”:

Sheharyar Afridi, the Minister of State for Saffron and Narcotics paid his tribute in beautiful words that she was a symbol of courage, struggle, and steadfastness.

Shama Junejo, an actress and a columnist wrote about a bitter fact on the death of Miss Jinnah:

Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah will always be remembered for her passionate support for civil rights who stood shoulder to shoulder with her brother, the founder of Pakistan. She was laid to rest next to her brother at Mazar-e-Quaid.
