Two Brothers Disappeared with Bitcoins Worth $3.6 Billion

Two brothers, Ameer and Raees Cajee, have disappeared with 69,000 bitcoins worth $3.6 billions. They belonged to Cape Town, South Africa where they launched their cryptocurrency investment company with the name “Africrypt”.

A law firm hired signed a contract with the company Africrypt whose owners were later reported to have gone missing with the bitcoins.

According to reports, the brothers might have fled to UK along with bitcoin worth $3.6 billion.

According to details, When the bitcoin global rates were at their highest back in April, Africrypt informed their clients that they are being hacked. They also asked their clients not to alert law enforcement authorities or lawyers otherwise the recovery process would face difficulties.

The firm says that we were immediately suspicious when they asked the investors not to take any legal action. Africrypt employees were unable to access the back-end platforms seven days before the hacking was reported.

The law firm has reported the incident to the South Africa’s police unit, Hawks but they have failed to track the owners of Africrypt.

It is the second big loss to hit South African cryptocurrency investors in the last two years.
