Lahore, 28th June: Dubai extends ban on flights from Pakistan till July 21.

According to reports from Gulf News, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has extended the ban on flights from Pakistan and 13 other countries till July 2.

A source cited a notice issued to Airmen (NOTAM) and said that flights from Pakistan and other countries including India, Nigeria, South Africa, Liberia, Namibia, Sierra Leone, the Democratic Republic Of Congo, Uganda, Zambia, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka have been barred to enter UAE till 21st of July.

In the notification, the federal aviation authority mentioned that exception would be granted to cargo flights, as well as business and charter flights.

On June 19, Dubai had said that a ban imposed on the entry of those who had visited India, Nigeria and South Africa in the past 14 days would ease from June 23.

Under the new guidelines, only those UAE residents will be allowed to enter India who was fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, anyone in South Africa who was fully vaccinated and those in Nigeria who had tested negative for coronavirus in the past 48 hours.

A GCAA representative said on Sunday that those traveling from India are still banned from entering the UAE.

It may be recalled that Dubai reopened its borders to foreign visitors in July, while people landing in Abu Dhabi are required to quarantine upon arrival from most countries.

In April, UAE ordered a national ban on entry from India as it faced a surge in coronavirus infections. However, certain individuals, such as UAE citizens and diplomats, have been exempted from entry bans.
