UN declares Pakistan ‘family station’ for its international staff
ISLAMABAD, June 21: The United Nations has declared Pakistan to be a safe country for travel and has also granted ‘Family Station’ for its employees from foreign nations, with immediate effect.
This was stated in a statement issued by International Civil Service Commission of the UN in a letter to Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to UN Dr. Maleeha Lodhi.
Now UN personnel working in Pakistan can live with their families in Pakistan.
The decision was made on the recommendation of the Under-Secretary General of the United Nations Department of Safety and Security who assessed and evaluated the overall security situation in Islamabad and recommended lifting of the said ban.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has warmly welcomed and was extremely delighted by the decision of United Nations and termed it as good news.
