Pakistan to get another 2.4M doses of Covid-19 vaccine

United States: According to a White House official, the US government will ship 2.4 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to Pakistan on Thursday, bringing the total number of doses supplied to the South Asian country to around 18.3 million, the most of any country.

The shipment is part of a larger US vaccine diplomacy operation in which vaccines have been provided to dozens of countries And the latest shipments of COVID-19 vaccine batches are expected to arrive via the Covax distribution program on Saturday.

And the next shipments of Pfizer and BioNTech vaccine batches are expected to arrive on Saturday via the Covax distribution program, according to the official, who asked to remain anonymous.

According to data obtained by Reuters, Pakistan has administered at least 93.6 million doses thus far. Assuming that each individual requires two doses, this would be enough to vaccinate approximately 21.6 percent of the country’s population.

Since June, US shipments of Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines have been delivered to Pakistan every month.

The shipment is part of a larger US vaccine diplomacy operation in which vaccines have been provided to dozens of countries.
