The Ministry of Defence in Moscow has reported that Russian air defenses successfully intercepted and downed two drones flying over Russian territory in the past few hours.

The first incident occurred at 3:30 pm local time (1:30 pm UK time) over the Kursk region, according to the MoD. A subsequent update indicated that another drone was brought down over Belgorod at approximately 5:00 pm local time (3:00 pm UK time), and the region’s governor confirmed through his Telegram channel that there were no casualties or damages reported.

These incidents, if confirmed, represent the latest in a series of drone attacks on Russian soil, with Ukraine appearing to maintain pressure on Moscow.

Notably, earlier, we reported a missile strike affecting civilian infrastructure in the city of Kremenchuk, and the governor has now provided an update on casualties. Dmytro Lunin stated, “As of now, 15 people are known to have been injured, one of them being a child.”

Sky News’ international correspondent, Alex Rossi, provided insights into one of our top stories today – a Ukrainian strike on the Black Sea fleet’s headquarters in Crimea. Rossi noted, “It is a very significant and symbolic strike that likely caused damage as well.”

He also highlighted an increase in the frequency of such attacks, aligning with the broader strategy pursued by Ukraine to disrupt Russian operations. When asked about the broader objective of the strike, Rossi explained, “The idea is to interfere with Russian munitions.”

“There’s a significant amount of military equipment in Sevastopol, and Ukraine is attempting to prevent it from reaching the front lines where it’s needed,” he concluded, predicting that such strikes would likely continue in the coming weeks.
