On Wednesday, both the United States and Russia encountered setbacks in their attempts to pass resolutions related to the Gaza conflict at the United Nations Security Council.

The US draft resolution on the Middle East was vetoed by Russia and China, while Russia’s own resolution failed to garner the necessary nine votes for consideration.

The outcome of the US resolution was announced as “10 votes in favor, 3 against with a veto, and 2 abstentions.” US Ambassador to the UN, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, expressed her profound disappointment regarding the veto.
