U.S shielding Afghans already in the country from deportation

The United States ( US) has announced about ً 144 million united states dollars (USD) in aid to Afghanistan.

According to foreign media, National Security Council spokeswoman Emily Horn said:

“The US aid will be distributed directly to more than 18.4 million affected Afghans, including Afghan refugees in neighboring countries. This work will be supported by independent organizations.”

Following this additional assistance, a total of approximately ً 474 million has been provided by US to Afghanistan in 2021, the largest amount ever provided by a country. Supplies, health care, protection from cold weather, food emergency aid, water, medical facilities will be provided.

The United Nations has warned that the acute shortage of basic human needs in Afghanistan is on the rise. Half of Afghanistan’s estimated 40 million people, or 22.8 million Afghans, will face severe food shortages from November.

According to the report, a total of 3,020,000 children under the age of five will face severe malnutrition by the end of this year.

Earlier this month, the European Commission announced a 1 billion package for Afghanistan and neighboring countries at a recent virtual conference. European aid will be spent on human, social and economic needs in the country.
