US Author Dean Koontz Predicted Coronavirus in 1981
Since yesterday, an excerpt from the novel “The Eyes of Darkness” by Dean Koontz has been making its presence felt on the internet. But why?
With the ongoing fatal coronavirus outbreak, that originated in China at the start of this year, the content of this book hits a tune little too close.
“To understand that,” Dombey said, “you have to go back twenty months.” It was around then that a Chinese scientist named Li Chen defected to the United States, carrying a diskette record of China’s most important and dangerous new biological weapon in a decade. They call the stuff “Wuhan-400” because it was developed at their RDNA labs outside of the city Wuhan and it was the Four-hundredth visible strain of man-made microorganism created at the research center. Wuhan-400 is a perfect weapon….
Somewhere in the chapter it is also mentioned that only humans can transmit the virus and the moment a person dies the virus dies within a few minutes.
Here two facts are clear:
- Wuhan has always been the epicenter of virus testing in its virology center: and
- China has always been tangled in the controversies of developing biological weapons
Twitter and other social media handles have been flooded with people calling this book a little close to reality. However, it must be remembered that coincidences do exist.
Is Coranavirus a biological Weapon developed by the Chinese called Wuhan -400? This book was published in 1981. Do read the excerpt. pic.twitter.com/Qdep1rczBe

In yet another example of bizarre predictive programming, in the 1981 novel "The Eyes of Darkness" by Dean Koontz, the Chinese develop a bio-weapon virus called Wuhan-400 in the city of Wuhan. https://t.co/wvyt5ANcWy

It is no exaggeration to call Dean Koontz a prolific writer. With over 80 novels and 74 works of short fiction under his belt, his novels are broadly described as suspense thrillers. He is churning out suspense fiction since his first book, Star Quest, which was published in 1968.
While it is highly plausible that the outbreak is just a coincidence, it cannot entirely be brushed under the rug because the odds of the Wuhan outbreak and the succeeding symptoms are too many..
