Uttar Pradesh on high alert ahead of Friday prayers

India: Days after the ban on the Popular Front of India (PFI), Uttar Pradesh has been put on high alert and all district police chiefs have been asked to intensify vigil around mosques for Friday prayers.

The Uttar Pradesh Police issued an order in this regard to avert any tensions during the prayers.

As per the order, all district police chiefs have been asked to carry out foot patrolling and keep a round-the-clock vigil on social media to counter any rumours during Friday prayers as well as during the upcoming festivals.

The officials have been asked to deploy force strategically in sensitive localities as well as places of worship.
