Uzbekistan visit to open new avenues: Fawad Chaudhry

July 16, 2021: On Thursday, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry said that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s ongoing visit to Uzbekistan would open up a new dimension of economic and security relations with the Central Asian States (CAS).
In a video statement from Tashkent, he said that Prime Minister Imran had been given a warm welcome and “unprecedented protocol” and that his delegation had been provided with extensive security. He added that he hoped that trade with Central Asian states (CAS) would increase manifold in the coming years. The minister said that a large number of people from the business community were also present in Tashkent and they would have ample business opportunities.
The main purpose of the visit was to increase travel between Pakistan, Afghanistan and Uzbekistan, he added.
The Minister said: “The journey of a heavy truck or train from Karachi or Gwadar port should reach the Central Asian states without any hindrance. It will increase trade many times over. The Ministry of Commerce aims to increase regional trade and has done its homework to boost regional trade ties.”
He said that an important conference was to be held in Tashkent (today) on Friday, in which regional connectivity would be discussed and the Prime Minister would highlight the importance of regional connectivity, which has the potential to enhance the regional economy.
The Minister added that discussions would also be held to achieve lasting peace in Afghanistan.
