Waqf bill designed to disempower Muslims: Mehbooba

IIOJK: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) President Mehbooba Mufti has said that the Waqf Amendment bill is designed to disempower Muslims.

Mehbooba Mufti in her reaction over the Waqf (Amendement) Bill, 2024, tabled by the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government in Lok Sabha today, said: “I don’t have any hope with BJP but have high hopes with secular Hindus, they must come forward as this country has to run as per the constitution.”

She said that the Muslims in India have faced persecution, targeted lynching incidents, and encroachments on graveyards and urged the Hindus to rise against such injustices.

She said the bill is a conspiracy to disempower Muslims, and in the last 10-11 years, Muslims are facing attacks, mosques have been demolished, and lynching incidents and encroachments on graveyards was common.
