Washington can’t bar Pakistan from importing Russian oil: Dar

Rubbishing rumors of American concerns, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar claimed that Washington cannot bar Islamabad from importing oil from Moscow.

Highlighting India’s oil import from Russia, the PML-N financial wizard said that he held several consultations with US State Department officials during his visit to the United States last month during which a Pakistani purchase of Russian oil was discussed.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar further said that the Pakistani delegation informed US State Department officials that they cannot raise concerns over Pakistan’s import of oil from Russia as New Delhi, which is a Washington ally, is currently a major importer of Russian oil.

The finance minister said that Pakistan will aim to purchase oil from Russia on similar terms as India.

He lastly said that his ministry will take important steps in this direction in the coming future.
