Karachi: After resigning as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) a couple of days ago, Wasim Khan wrote an emotional message. He dedicated that message to the beautiful people of Pakistan.
Wasim said on LinkedIn that serving a lovely country full of giving and caring people was an honour.
“As a British Pakistani and a former professional cricketer, I committed to moving to Pakistan little under three years ago in order to help improve the PCB’s and the country’s global image. My goal was to help improve the game while in the spotlight of a 220 million-strong cricket-crazed nation.”
Furthermore, Wasim khan added that bringing international cricket back, and also sleepless nights dealing with crisis management or averting a critical situation, and navigating through very politically sensitive situations, were all part of the job’s excitement..
Despite the immense media investigation, Wasim admitted that he committed some blunders throughout his tenure. During his tenure at PCB, he developed “political intelligence,” which he values.
“I made some stupid decisions in real time, but being at peace with myself after decisions helped me deal with what I didn’t get right in an honest way,” he said. “I am grateful for my experiences, which taught me the importance of peripheral vision and helped me build political intelligence.”
“Nothing moved my soul like Pakistan Cricket. I consider myself very lucky to have played a small part in its development. When I travel out of Lahore in a few weeks to return to England, I know I will be filled with appreciation and affection for the Pakistani fans who have welcomed and supported me throughout my time here.”
“To a great country full of nice and caring people, thank you for the memories. He expressed his gratitude by saying, “It has been an honour to serve you.”
