Webinar to commemorate 19th death anniversary of Baba-e-Socialism Sheikh Rashid
Lahore: On 19th death anniversary of former senior federal minister and senior vice chairman of Pakistan People’s Party, Baba-e-Socialism Sheikh Muhammad Rashid, a webinar was held by Baba-e-Socialism Foundation on 12th of September, 2021.
On this occasion, a penal discussion was held for the re-introduction of his famous Generic Scheme for medicines, introduced by him in 1972, which enabled the poor classes of Pakistan to have medicines at cheap prices.
The penal comprised of the followings:-

9) Raza Ashfaq Sheikh (Grandson of Sheikh Muhammad Rashid)
Ms. Ramsha Raza Ali Advocate, general secretary of the Foundation hosted the webinar.
The participants highlighted the efforts of Sheikh Muhammad Rashid for implementation of his scheme for low priced medicines which was widely appreciated world over. In 1972, eleven professors wrote in a prestigious drug bulletin of UK that “using generic names, Pakistan leads the world”. The participants acknowledged that his generic scheme was highly beneficial for the health sector and the poor classes of the country.
It was resolved in the webinar that all participants would launch a movement for the introduction of this pro-poor scheme. On one hand this scheme would save tens of billions of health sector’s expenditure and on the other hand it would save lives of thousands of poor people.
