WhatsApp announces provision of new features for users

LAHORE: WhatsApp which has more than two billion users worldwide has reportedly announced the decision to add more new features to the app.

According to reports, the WhatsApp administration announced its new privacy policy last year following which it was severely criticized, and millions of users switched to other applications namely Telegram, Bip, Signals as potent alternatives for communication. After the criticism and pressure from users, WhatsApp withdrew its policy and began introducing new features to attract the attention of its users.

Recently, WhatsApp has announced an exciting new feature that will enable users to use the app without a smartphone. According to NEWS18, “This new feature [will] allow WhatsApp users to send and receive messages on a second device without their primary smartphone online. Till now, users had to make sure their smartphone was connected to the internet before they could use [it] on a secondary device on web version”. However, the new version is currently still in the beta stage.

To enable the feature, a WhatsApp user simply has to access Settings and click on the Link to Device option. The user will be given the option to Add an Account, after which he/she will be able to scan the code.
