WhatsApp clarifies its latest policy amid severe criticism

Lahore, 12th January: WhatsApp, the famous social media app clarifies its latest privacy policy after facing severe criticism from users all over the world.

Baaghi TV: According to reports, WhatsApp on Tuesday clarified that it will continue to protect the private messages of its users with end-to-end encryption.

WhatsApp shared a message on social media, explaining that its privacy policy update does not affect the privacy of the messages of its consumers with friends or family.

WhatsApp shared on its official Twitter account:

The WhatsApp has clarified the common queries being asked by the people as to what it would not be sharing with Facebook, the owner of the messaging app.

According to the new policy, neither WhatsApp nor Facebook can read our messages or hear our calls with friends, family, and co-workers on WhatsApp.

Whatever we share, will stay private because our personal messages are protected by end-to-end encryption. It said that the group chats are also protected.

The messaging app believes that keeping the stored data of two billion users would be both a privacy and security risk, so they don’t do it.

The app also clarified on the fact when a person shares his/her location with someone on WhatsApp, the location is protected by end-to-end encryption, which means no one can see their location except the people we share it with.

WhatsApp further explained that they can only access the phone numbers from our address book to make messaging fast and reliable and that they don’t share our contact lists with the other apps Facebook offers.

WhatsApp added we can choose to set our messages to disappear from chats after sending them for the additional privacy.

The app claims that we can download and see what information they have on our account right from within the app.
