WHO Chief lauds Pakistan efforts to curtail coronavirus epidemic

ISLAMABAD, July 07 (Online): World Health Organisation (WHO) has lauded Pakistan efforts to curtail coronavirus epidemic.

Through a video link talks between Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan and WHO chief Dr Tedros Adhanom, the WHO chief has praised Pakistani government’s moves to fight against coronavirus terming them praiseworthy.

Dr Tedros Adhanom said the steps taken by Pakistan to deal with coronavirus epidemic are appreciable.

PM Imran Khan lauded the role played by WHO with reference to International community assistance.

He said  mechanism on scientific basis has been adopted  to ensure provision of health care facilities.

According to media reports an official statement said that the prime minister apprised the WHO DG of the measures undertaken by Pakistan to stem the spread of COVID-19 in the country.

In relation to the premier’s concern regarding travel restrictions, the global health watchdog assured the country’s top representative that it is creating standard operating procedures to remove travel restrictions in the future.

In the conversation, the two sides also discussed the contemporary situation due to the global pandemic.
