The initial post-mortem report of the late Lahore Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, Shariq Jamal, has been revealed, shedding some light on the circumstances surrounding his death.

According to the report, his mouth was partially open with stains of blood on his lips and teeth, but there were no signs of torture on his body. The report also mentioned that his body was stiff at the time of death.

An old injury mark was found on his elbow, which indicates he might have had a previous injury in that area. Shariq Jamal was discovered dead under mysterious circumstances at the Defence View Apartment in DHA Lahore in the early hours of Saturday. It appears that he had been residing at the apartment for a while, raising questions about possible family issues that might have influenced his decision to stay there instead of his home.

The police are currently investigating the incident from various angles, and they have not ruled out the possibility of suicide. The actual cause of his death will be determined once the complete post-mortem report is available.

After the incident came to light, Shariq’s body was initially taken to DHA’s National Hospital and later transferred to Jinnah Hospital’s mortuary. Both the police officials and the DIG’s wife were present at the hospital, and a thorough investigation into the matter has been initiated.

Shariq Jamal had an extensive career in the police force, having served as DIG Traffic and DIG Railway before being assigned as an officer on special duty (OSD) at the time of his death. As part of their investigation, the police have interrogated a man and a woman who were taken into custody from the flat where Shariq’s body was found. They were questioned for over two hours before being shifted to the CIA for further inquiries.

The situation remains sensitive and subject to ongoing investigation as authorities try to piece together the events leading up to Shariq Jamal’s untimely demise.
