Since October 2023, when Israel’s genocide in Gaza escalated, WHO has facilitated hundreds of evacuations from Gaza. Speaking with AFP, Kluge stressed that the evacuations could not be possible without dialogue. Mentioning the situation in Ukraine, he added, “I keep the dialogue (open) with all partners”. According to Kluge, the importance is to not politicize health because the “most important medicine is peace”. The Head of WHO Europe further commented that health care workers should be allowed to do their jobs in conflict zones.
