New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has reportedly said that anyone who celebrates Pakistan’s victory in the T20 World Cup labelled a traitor and sent to jail .

In an interview to a TV program, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that anyone who celebrated Pakistan’s victory on October 24 would be prosecuted under the sedition law. This interview has also been pinned on Yogi Adityanath’s official Twitter handle.

Yesterday, seven (7) people have been charged in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh (UP) for celebrating Pakistan’s victory.

According to Indian media, UP police have arrested 4 out of 7 people, all of whom are accused of setting off firecrackers, chanting slogans in support of Pakistan and posting statuses.

Earlier, six people, including a school teacher in Rajasthan and three Kashmiri students studying in Agra, were arrested for celebrating Pakistan’s victory.

It may be recalled that on Sunday, October 24, Pakistan defeated India for the first time in the history of the T20 World Cup. Since then, India has been in turmoil.

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag was also present on the issue of firecracker celebrations in New Delhi and had sent a message on social media. After the defeat in Pakistan, extremist Hindus had also started criticizing Indian fast bowler Mohammad Shami.
