Higher Education Department (HED) released a circular for the induction of college teachers internees (CTI) in the middle of the September this year and the colleges mentioned, had no idea what’s going on.
A student of MS visited around 8 government colleges and from guard to teachers, nobody had any idea of CTI by HED. There was clearly mentioned on the circular to visit the nearest government college for more information and appear in the walk-in interview on 23rd September, 2019.
However, the nearest as well as, the colleges situated in the other corner of the city were checked but the faculty as well as guards were unable to provide any information about the program.
The program promised to hire around 5,000 interns across the province with 500 seats specified for special people. People had high hope with this program that would pay 45,000 per month to interns and on the basis of performance, can be hired permanently.
I visited Government Colleges of Islampura from where guard said to go to other colleges because it doesn’t have seats for subjects. I also visited Jinnah Degree College, Lahore College for Women, Government College Anarkali, Wapda Town Government College and others situated around. In some colleges, they didn’t allow to go inside to take further information. In rest, they had no idea about CTI program. Few colleges didn’t have seats. I searched the contact numbers of all colleges in Lahore and called them. It also remained useless.
“Nobody was wishing to provide information or guide about the subjects to apply in,” she added, “I was sure that time that the college faculty would be keeping it for their own relatives.”
Another person who visited different colleges to seek a seat for CTI said, “When you start a program like this, at least give information about subjects and colleges to apply in. So that, the candidate just doesn’t have to waste up money in traveling from one corner of the city to another. Fruitless! I was so excited that it will open a way.”
One of the person wishing to apply in the program told that he called his uncle to ask about the seats in his college and he told that there is no information about this to his college. Another one told that her father had been receiving calls from people to use a reference for them and get them this opportunity.
If a program is started which can be beneficial on a greater extent, then there must be provided complete information for that on website so that people can check it regularly. The program’s interviews closed, closing the hopes of many.
