Why there is a halt in ECP proceedings against Faisal Vawda

April 20, 2021: The Sindh High Court heard the petition of PTI leader Senator Faisal Vawda against the Election Commission. Faisal Vawda’s lawyer appeared in the Sindh High Court on behalf of the Election Commission.

The court asked the EC representative who would appear on behalf of the Election Commission. Will the ECP lawyer come or will the Attorney General’s Office give arguments? Election Commission representative said that there is no lawyer of the Election Commission, Deputy Attorney General will run the case on behalf of the Election Commission.

The Deputy Attorney General asked the court to give a date and resolve the issue at the next hearing. The court asked what was going on in the Election Commission. Lawyer says nothing is happening in ECP due to Sindh High Court, court directed the ECP, Deputy Attorney General to prepare arguments Sindh High Court adjourns hearing of case till April 30.

Federal Minister Faisal Vawda’s petition for disqualification has taken the position that he submitted fake affidavits in the nomination papers. The petition said that Faisal Vawda should be disqualified for submitting fake affidavits as MNAs were not honest and trustworthy. The Supreme Court has disqualified two senators for having dual citizenship
