A deeply disturbing report by the UN states that used children as human shields killing 136 children as a result. Ukraine continues to fight back with everything at her disposal. The only outcome of this human disaster can be achieved by sitting across the table, not in the battlefield.

The situation in Ukraine is undeniably tragic, with a significant loss of civilian lives and damage to infrastructure during the ongoing conflict with Russia. The idea of a peace process organized in Jeddah is a crucial step toward finding a resolution to the war. It is interesting to note that India is to be a participant as Nirupama Rao, India’s former ambassador to the United States categorically stated to CNBC that it is unlikely New Delhi would relinquish its ties with Russia’s defense industry as the Kremlin continues its armed conflict in Ukraine.

While the involvement of various countries in the upcoming Summit in Jeddah indicates a willingness to engage in negotiations, the absence of Russia from this round of talks may have its reasons.

There seem to be two potential reasons for Russia not being part of these particular talks. First, the coalition of nations may believe that involving Russia from the outset could hinder the development of a strategy for a peaceful settlement. Second, they might be looking to involve Russia once some consensus is reached and a peace plan can be presented.

Negotiations are indeed a fundamental tool for ending wars, but their effectiveness depends on both parties being willing to work towards a common goal and being on the same page on the issues being discussed. Ignoring Russia’s concerns could potentially jeopardize the success of any peace process. Previous attempts at negotiations, such as the Minsk Agreements in 2014, failed because they did not adequately address the issues raised by the Kremlin.

Russia views Ukraine as part of its empire and is unlikely to give up its claims easily. However, after years of war and support to Kyiv, it has become imperative for Ukraine’s supporters to seek a peaceful resolution to the conflict. The success of the peace process will heavily depend on finding common ground and addressing the core concerns of both Ukraine and Russia.

In conclusion, a Ukrainian-organized peace process can deliver results if it manages to bring all concerned parties to the negotiating table and addresses the underlying issues fueling the conflict. It will be a challenging task, but achieving peace through diplomacy is crucial to ending the human suffering and devastation caused by the war.

Good piece on Ukrainian bloody war encouraged by Zelenskyy, the proxy of the US led NATO! He is playing into the the US hands while his country is being devastated. A superior statesmanship is needed to find a negotiated settlement of the armed conflict.
