ISLAMABAD, September 15 (online): The chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Justice (R) Javed Iqbal has said that I will not want extension even for an hour in my duration of service.
He said National Accountability Bureau is committed to ensure the country’s development and eradication of corruption.
Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad on Tuesday, he stressed the need for self-accountability to eliminate the menace of corruption from the society.
The Chairman NAB said corruption is the biggest obstacle in the way of progress and prosperity that needs to be dismantled.
He said the bureau is working diligently to resolve the issues being faced by the general public.
On the occasion, the Chairman NAB also distributed cheques amounting over twenty-four crore rupees among the affectees of Modaraba scam.
He said that some people did corruption of not a penny but of billions, those who are blaming us for one sided accountability are blindfolded. Every case is analysed with depth in NAB and when case is made then we go ahead. It has never happened so that we have taken action against any innocent person who has done nothing.
Some decisions of Chief Justice Pakistan gave us guidance due to which some laws of NAB has been changed., he added.
He further said that Muzarba case was the most complicated case which has been solved by the officials of National Accountability Court (NAB) successfully, this case was one of the biggest cases of court in which fine was also imposed other than imprisonment.
He said that it is system of nature that you reap what you sow, the credit of all the achievements of NAB not only goes to officials and staff but to women staff as well, NAB took actions against someone only on the basis of solid evidence, we took many steps in bringing betterment in NAB one of which is new system of investigation in which only investigation officer (IO) will not only be responsible but joint investigation team will participate in investigation which will help in solving cases more swiftly, rather than criticizing there is need of pragmatic suggestions.
