Chinese President Xi Jinping stated that his country will maintain its constructive role in addressing issues related to Afghanistan.

Chinese media, quoting Xi Jinping, have reported that China’s commitment to fostering peace remains unchanged.

Reports from media outlets quoted the Chinese President: “China has the best track record with respect to peace and security. It has been exploring for a distinctly Chinese approach to resolving hotspot issues. It has been playing a constructive role in the Ukraine crisis, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, and issues relating to the Korean Peninsula, Iran, Myanmar, and Afghanistan. Every increase of China’s strength is an increase of the prospects of world peace.”

Salim Paigir, a political affairs expert, said: “If the Chinese want, they can play a very significant and fundamental role in achieving permanent stability and peace in Afghanistan; however, unfortunately, the assistance that the Afghan people expect from the Chinese has not yet been seen.”

The Islamic Emirate also welcomed the Chinese President’s stance, stating that maintaining stability and peace in Afghanistan is important for the relationship between the two countries.

Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for the Islamic Emirate, said: “Afghanistan also wants to have good relations with China as a neighboring country and an important economic power in the region. Maintaining stability and peace in Afghanistan is very important for the relationship between the two countries, and we are in a good position for building trust and relations.”

Previously, the Deputy Political Prime Minister had stated that Beijing supports the stance of the Islamic Emirate in global forums.

Zakiullah Mohammadi, a university professor, said: “In agreements with China, the Islamic Emirate must be very cautious; it should ensure that Afghanistan’s interests are considered and not be overly trusting of China.”

Since the return of the Islamic Emirate to power in the country, no country, including China, has officially recognized the Islamic Emirate; however, in an unprecedented move, China accepted Bilal Karimi as the acting government’s ambassador in Beijing.
