Yasir Shah no longer suspect in teenager rape case: Police #Baaghi

Jan 12, 2022: According to a report by Geo News, police on Wednesday said that Test cricketer Yasir Shah is no longer an accused in the alleged rape case of a 14-year-old girl as the victim withdrew her statement, saying the cricketer’s name was “accidentally” added in the FIR.

A case of alleged abuse and harassment was registered against Yasir Shah in December last year. But the victim has now retracted her statement, saying she had “accidentally” included the Test cricketer’s name in the First Information Report (FIR), police said.

“Yasir Shah has no link to the alleged rape case […] the complainant has also requested to remove Yasir Shah’s name from the case.”

The Test cricketer was named in a case at the Shalimar police station in Islamabad on December 19, 2021 for allegedly aiding and abetting to rape and harass a 14-year-old girl.

In the FIR, the girl had alleged that Farhan, a friend of Yasir, allegedly raped her at gunpoint, filmed her trial and harassed her. The complainant had alleged in the FIR that “when I contacted Yasir on WhatsApp and told him about the incident, he made fun of me and said that he liked younger girls”. The girl further alleged that the Test cricketer had warned her of “serious consequences” when she contacted the authorities about the incident.

“Yasir Shah said that he was a very influential person and that he knew a high-ranking official […] Yasir Shah and Farhan make videos and rape underage girls,” the victim had alleged.

She also said that when she approached the police, “the national cricketer proposed to buy me a flat and bear my expenses for the next 18 years”.
