Young Girl Found Dead in Islamabad Metro Station

The body of a young girl, aged between 10 to 12 years, was found in the washroom of a deserted metro station in Sector G-11 of the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), the police said Monday night.

According to media reports, the police suspect that the girl was strangled to death after being sexually assaulted as there were some marks on the body. However, the exact cause of death will be known only after the post-mortem report comes out.

A passerby spotted the body in the washroom of the deserted metro bus station and informed the police, after which the police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to the hospital. Police say the victim, who is between 11 and 12 years old, has not been identified yet.

Police further said that Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) police have exchanged information but no progress has been made so far regarding the identity of the young girl. Police also checked the records of all police stations in the capital on suspicion of missing girl.

A search of the metro station was also carried out to find out the identity of the killer, but nothing was found. Apparently, the girl was raped and killed at another place and then her body was brought to the washroom of the metro station and dumped. Police say the incident may have taken place on Sunday night and his body was dumped at the metro bus station on Monday morning.

An official of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) said that a medical board comprising three female doctors had conducted an autopsy on the body. Samples from the young girl’s body have been obtained and handed over to police for chemical testing.

The official said that the final opinion and post-mortem report would be given after receiving the report of chemical analysis from Lahore.

On the other hand, the police have started examining the footage of CCTV cameras installed near the bus station and on the roads leading to it and some vehicles have also been declared as suspects. Police have also started geo-fencing the area to track down the culprits.
