2020 to be year of progress, prosperity for Pakistan: Asad Qaiser

ISLAMABAD, Dec 31 (APP):In his felicitation message to the nation on the eve of new year, Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser expressed his optimism that the dawn of year 2020 will usher a new era of sustained economic growth coupled with uplift of the common man and consolidation of democracy in Pakistan.

The Speaker said that upcoming 2020 will surely bear witness to the fact that “we have decisively turned a page in our history and have embarked upon our national journey afresh with the resolve to overcome the challenges of the era”.

He reiterated the resolve of the incumbent government to an inclusive democracy dedicated to the uplift of the downtrodden and streamlining of the marginalized strata of the society. He remarked that the days of terrorism in Pakistan were numbered and expressed his confidence that 2020 will further consolidate Pakistan’s march towards peace and prosperity. He urged his fellow countrymen to shun all the differences and unite under the banner of faith, unity and discipline as espoused by the founding father Quaid-e- Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah .

The Speaker expressed his hope that Pakistan will continue to reverse the tides of poverty by enriching the youth with employable skills and spirit of entrepreneurship.

“I strongly believe that Pakistan is finally heading towards achieving the goal of social harmony and economic development.”

Referring to Pakistan’s regional objectives, he highlighted that Pakistan was committed to a peaceful South Asian region and will continue to cooperate with other regional players for peace in the region. The Speaker said that fascist Indian Government had put the peace of region at stake and due to its racist policies the Indian people across the country were on protest on eve of new year. He said that people of Kashmir were under siege due to 149 days long lockdown in held valley and compelled to live a miserable life. He urged upon the international community to play the role to eradicate the lockdown in occupied Kashmir and resolve this issue in accordance with UN resolutions.

The Acting Speaker Qasim Khan Suri had also felicitated the nation on the advent of New Year and expressed hope that the New Year will bring happiness, joy and relief from sorrows to the nation and to the world.

He was confident that 2020 will prove to be year of peace, stability and harmony in the region and beyond. He said, “on this occasion we should not forget our Kashmiri brethren who are victims of brutality and atrocity. He said that in this harsh cold weather Kashmiri people were deprived of all the basic necessities of life including food, medicines and fuel. He called upon the United Nations to ensure implementation of its resolutions regarding Kashmir and take notice of the serious human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir.
