Motorway Rape Case: Esra Bilgic furious at Lahore CCPO

Lahore, 25th September: Turkish actress Esra Bilgic has slammed Lahore CCPO in the rape case that recently took place on the motorway and left the country in shock.

According to reports of Baaghi TV, Esra bilgic popularly known as Halime Sultan from the famous historic Turkish series ‘Ertugrul’ has criticized Lahore CCPO for victim-blaming the woman who was raped.

Earlier it was reported by Baaghi TV that a woman was gang-raped and looted on Lahore motorway in front of her three children. She had called the police for help as her petrol had run out. But instead of the police, two robbers came by and broke the car windows.

They took the woman and her kids to the nearby fields and shockingly molested her in front of her kids.

On top of all the devastating news, CCPO Umer Sheikh from Lahore issued an insensitive statement saying that the victim-woman shouldn’t be travelling at such wee hours of the night and that too alone.

This put the whole nation into shock. People from all over the country protested at the horrific incident and raised their voice against the cold-hearted statements by the Lahore CCPO Umer Sheikh.

Recently, Pakistan’s favourite Turkish actress Esra Bilgic on reading about the incident expressed her anger over CCPO Umer Sheikh for victim-blaming the woman.

She posted on her Instagram story saying, “Women can drive alone or with their children. The only thing you need to do is to provide security.”

She asked addressing the CCPO, “You’re okay with gang’s presence on your roads as a police officer? You think that if a woman chooses those roads to drive, there is a right to rape and kill them?

She further wrote, “You’re displaying a shocking ignorance on this matter. Before you advise, you should change your thoughts. It seems impossible. What a shame on you and people like you.”
