The federal district administration of Chief Commissioner Islamabad has launched a special anti-tobacco campaign.

The campaign was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Hamza Shafqat and Director Excise Bilal Azam Khan jointly. Registration, tax collection and collection of actual tobacco usage data. Tobacco vendors in Islamabad will be able to sell tobacco products only after obtaining specific permits from the Excise Department.

At the commencement of anti-tobacco campaign, Deputy Commissioner Hamza Shafqat and Director Excise Bilal Azam Khan also checked various shops and seized smuggled cigarettes from different shops.

Meanwhile, on the instructions of Deputy Commissioner and Director Excise Papers were also checked and papers of some shops were also taken into custody for verification of papers. During the campaign, those selling tobacco products in the federal capital will be registered regularly. “Registration of tobacco shops will also help in collecting data related to its use and tax.” Director Excise Bilal Azam Khan.
