Lahore, 14th June: Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has announced to let women perform the annual Hajj of the year 2021 without any male dependant.

According to reports, this year women in Saudi Arabia have been allowed to perform the Hajj pilgrimage without any male chaperone (Mahram).

According to the Kingdom’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, the women who have signed up for Hajj will be able to perform the pilgrimage along with other women.

It is to be noted that due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Kingdom has allowed only its own citizens to perform Hajj this year.

Saudi Gazette reported that Saudi Arabia announced on Saturday that it would limit registration for this year’s Hajj to citizens only and residents of the Kingdom.

The Ministries of Health and Hajj announced that this year a total of 60,000 pilgrims will be allowed to perform the pilgrimage, which will begin from mid-July.
The ministry further issued conditions for the Hajj pilgrims and said that they should be fully vaccinated against the virus. It also directed that those who take one dose of COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days before or those who are vaccinated after recovering from coronavirus can perform the pilgrim.
