Aug 9, 2021: Pakistani officials have presented findings to an Afghan delegation in Islamabad about the alleged kidnapping of the envoy’s daughter last month.

Pakistani officials have informed an Afghan delegation that has arrived in Islamabad about the facts surrounding the alleged abduction of the Afghan envoy’s daughter and have presented relevant forensic evidence, including CCTV footage of the victim.

The evidence collected does not confirm the statement by Sislisla Alikhel.

Silsila Alikhel, daughter of Najibullah Alikhel, Afghanistan’s ambassador to Pakistan, was reportedly abducted July 16 and was missing for hours. On her return she said she had been picked by unknown assailants and the rope marks on her person were signs she was held against her will by said assailants.

On July 18, Afghanistan recalled its ambassador and senior diplomats from Pakistan, noting that the diplomatic staff would not return until “security threats are completely eliminated, including the arrest and punishment of criminals.”

The Afghan government also announced that it would send a security team to Islamabad to assess the situation before sending envoys and other diplomats to Islamabad.

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office on Sunday, the delegation met with law enforcement officials as well as the Foreign Ministry and was given a comprehensive briefing on all aspects of the investigation conducted by the concerned Pakistani authorities.

The delegation was also taken to the Safe City office, where he was shown video footage from different locations at different times within the frame of the alleged kidnapping, in which the complainant Silsila was clearly seen to be roaming freely.

The delegation visited all the sites visited by the complainant on the site, followed by a presentation of technical data including mobile forensics and geo-fencing. The delegation was informed that the law enforcement agencies had conducted a detailed and thorough investigation into the complaint and a comprehensive witness account concluded that the ground results did not corroborate the complainant’s report.

This was further proved by technical evidence.

Relevant Pakistani authorities reiterated a previous request for access to certain aspects of the case and evidence and to provide additional information about the complainant.

They briefed the delegation on the steps taken to enhance the security of the Afghan Embassy and its consulates in Islamabad.

Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Afghanistan. At this critical juncture in the Afghan peace process, it is imperative to work together for the common goal of a peaceful, stable and prosperous Afghanistan.

Pakistan hopes that the Afghan embassy in Islamabad will resume its normal operations soon.
