LAHORE: Following the videos of Dolphin force personnel harassing staff, of a popular ice-cream parlor in Lahore going viral, SP Dolphin takes notice.
According to reports of Baaghi TV, the management of Chaudairy Ice-cream, a popular ice-cream chain in Lahore, had taken to social media to raise their voice against undue harassment by law enforcement personnel of Dolphin force. Taking to Twitter and Instagram, Chaudairy Ice-cream had stated that similar incidents had occurred in the past with the police and dolphin personnel demanding free service.
As reported earlier by Baaghi TV, their management had shared clips of confrontation between the staff and dolphin police officials. According to their account, the personnel demanded free service. When service was declined by the staff, the branch manager was taken into custody.
In their statement on social media, Chaudairy Ice-cream claimed, “At 1:40 am today four dolphin officers came to our Allama Iqbal Town shop and took our Manager away on being refused for giving them FREE ice cream”. They added, “This is not the first time this incident has happened. Law enforcement thinks somehow it is there right to get FREE FOOD but we have had enough”.

Using the hashtags #NoChaudairyMufta and #DolphinKiMarzi, Chaudairy ice-cream urged their customers and the general public to raise their voices against police harassment. Following this, SP Dolphin Police Lahore has taken notice.
In a statement on Twitter, SP Dolphin Police stated, “According to the vision of IG Punjab, the self-esteem of the citizens will be restored in all circumstances. While the Dolphin Squad Lahore is given a fair reward for good performance, it has to fully adhere to the principles of punishment according to the SOPs, for indiscriminately violating the Code of Conduct.”

Moreover, according to Baaghi TV reports, the policy inquiry has inferred that the personnel involved had violated SOPs. Consequently, they have been closed to HQ from field duty and must perform security duty as recompense for their actions.
Additionally, the individuals have been fined Rs.10,000/- each as fine.
It is pertinent to note that a similar incident had occurred in June of 2021 when #MuhafizSayHifazat and #SHOGardi were trending. As reported by Baaghi TV at the time, fast food and takeaway restaurant, Johnny and Jugnu had accused police of harassing its staff for not providing free food to ‘someone special. Their statement had read, “We are writing this with a lot of disappointment, anger, and pain that the incident which took place yesterday was not the first time it happened and we are sure it’s not going to be the last”.
Another incident of negligence and misuse of power in Lahore’s model town area had been reported by Baaghi TV. Where the Dolphin force personnel had been silent bystanders instead of helping the parties involved to reach a negotiation.
Given the rise in such incidents of blatant misuse of power, we urge Prime Minister Imran Khan, CM Usman Buzdar, and the Punjab Government to look into the matter.
