Lahore: The worst exploitation of the working class has taken place in the three years of Imran Khan’s rule, State Bank of Pakistan Democratic Workers Federation, Secretary General, Liaquat Ali Sahi said this while talking to the workers on Tuesday.
He said that Imran Khan had made big claims before and after forming the government that 30 million people would be given jobs but in three years millions of workers have been deprived of jobs which is a negation of his claims.
He said that in public and private sector institutions across the country, the heads and owners of large scale institutions were violating Article 17 of the Constitution and depriving the workers of their constitutional right to form unions.
In this regard, the unconstitutional policies of the capitalists and bureaucracy, which are depriving the workers of their basic rights, seem to be encouraging.
He said that the laws of the country oblige the institutions not to employ any worker for more than ninety days without holding him to a permanent post on contract, daily wage and third party contract so that the rights of any worker ie citizen are taken away.
Imran Khan’s government, instead of taking any practical steps in this regard to provide justice to the workers, on the contrary, ridiculed the ordinary workers on the media that the government has no responsibility to provide jobs.
He said that workers in institutions across the country are employed by third party contractors who are made in fake companies who are not even paid the minimum wage but are forced to work for 12 hours a day. Duties are taken which is a violation of the ILO Convention but Imran Khan’s government has encouraged the capitalists instead of providing justice to the workers.
He said that the working and middle class across the country is deprived of clean drinking water, five hundred percent increase in medicines due to which the working and middle class is deprived of health facilities and deprived of basic facilities. Despite the government’s zero performance on issues, claims are being made which are contrary to the facts.
He said that inflation has made life difficult for the people but the government has arrogantly made false claims and stepped out of the world of dreams and nothing has been done which has deprived the basic rights of the common man. The three-year performance on this basis is very disappointing as there is no hearing on any of the forums.
He said that in Imran Khan’s government, International Transparency has claimed in its report that corruption has increased and big scandals have come to light but none of the real culprits have been caught which has led to Imran Khan’s corruption. All the claims against him seem to be flying in the sand.
He said that in the three years of Imran Khan’s rule, the manner in which governance has been dismantled in the state institutions is unprecedented.
He said that before the election, Imran Khan used to claim that if he got power, he would form very few cabinets, but on the contrary, he broke all records. All claims are denied, he concluded.
