Abuse on polio workers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Police personnel from Kohistan and Mansehra have been called for duty. The personnel are staying in different police stations. Some of them have taken up accommodation in hotels. Police personnel from other districts are also on duty round the clock, some of them are suffering from mental distress due to constant duty and spending money.

The police department takes money for the security of polio workers but does not get it to the lower-level officials.

The police officers on duty have appealed to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, for justice and said, we are working here, aren’t we human beings?

It should be noted that the anti-polio measures taken in different cities of Pakistan in general and in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in particular, are viewed with suspicion.

In the history of Pakistan Polio-duty officers have also been attacked and killed by several volunteers and police officers as well.

Due to the increasing number of polio cases in Pakistan, the country is facing difficulties in eradicating polio.
