FIA recovers Rs3m with receipts of Hawala Hundi

Lahore: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Thursday recovered over Rs 3 million alongwith evidence/receipts related to Hawala Hundi, official sources said.

Commercial Banking Circle (CBC) Peshawer initiated crackdown against illegal Hawala Hundi business under FATF targets and foreign currency dealing in Peshawar Division and Malakand Division.
On the directions of DG FIA Dr Sana Ullah Abbasi and Director KP Mujahid Akbar Khan, a team under SHO CBC Peshawer Talha Zaman has conducted raid on Karkhano Bazar Jamrud Road Khyber.
As a consequence, one accused namely Waqar Ahmed s/o Safi ur Rehman was found involved in illegal business of Hawala Hundi.
During search Pakistan currency amounting to RS 31,56,000/* alongwith evidence/receipts related to Hawala Hundi were recovered.
A case has been registered against accused under relevant sections of law at FIA CBC Peshawar.
