Islamabad: British High Commissioner to Pakistan, Christian Turner, believes the United Kingdom (UK) plans to increase its aid for Afghanistan.
According to Turner, Britain wants to increase its aid to Afghanistan in these difficult times for which it is trying to distribute aid directly to those in need. However, there are still some hurdles to overcome to ensurer the delivery of aid.

According to reports, in a recent statement, the British diplomat said that Britain wants to double its humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.

In this regard, Turner shared a tweet by the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) that stated, “The UK Government will match the first £10 million of donations from the British public to provide vital humanitarian assistance to vulnerable people in Afghanistan this winter”. According to the DEC, nearly ninety-five percent of the Afghan people do not have enough food, one million children are at risk of death due to the freezing winters.

The British High Commissioner stated that the UK govt had announced the decision to donate 5 million in humanitarian aid, which will now be doubled by adding another 5 million.
Taking to Twitter, Turner added, “Britain responding to urgent humanitarian needs of Afghan people, working with partners including Pakistan”. In another tweet, he added, “To help Afghans in need this winter UK is working with international community & Pakistan to get support to those who need it most”.
