Murree Incident: Public angry at govt for not taking action
While the entire nation was saddened by the deaths of people in the freezing cold and vehicles during the snowfall in Murree, a popular tourist destination of Pakistan, the public took the government by surprise for not taking precautionary measures.
As soon as it snows in Murree during winter, people from all over Pakistan come there for leisure. The recent winter snowfall in Murree started at the end of December last year and is still continuing. Due to the continuous snowfall in Murree, people from remote areas of Pakistan had also arrived there for sightseeing and Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry had said in his tweet on January 5, 2022, that one lakh vehicles had entered Murree.
The situation in Murree became tense after thousands of vehicles entered the area and heavy snowfall intensified, and on January 8, 2022, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid said Murree was declared a disaster area and closed to traffic.
