FTO nominates LCCI Senior Vice President Mian Rehman Aziz Chan “Honorary Business Coordinator”

LAHORE:  The Senior Vice President of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry Mian Rehman Aziz Chan has been nominated by the Federal Tax Ombudsman as “Honorary Business Coordinator”. This is the first time that a representative of trade bodies has been involved in decision making from the Office of the Federal Tax Ombudsman.

LCCI Senior Vice President Mian Rehman Aziz Chan is also the former RC/VP FPCCI, former Chairman Pakistan Steel Melters Association (PSMA) and former member Board of Directors of Punjab Board of Investment and Trade (PBIT).

He has an industrial background and he is also a corporate legal practitioner who holds wide set of expertise in different areas of law. Not only he has intensive experience of litigation, he is also an expert on tax matters.

He is Alumini of some of the prominent educational institutes like University of London, National Defence University, Academy of International Business officials, Beijing China and Government College University (GCU) Lahore.

On the occasion, Mian Rehman Aziz Chan said that the decision of the Federal Tax Ombudsman would benefit the taxpayers. Their problems will be solved and the process of coercion, harassment of traders, victimization of business Personnel and practice of discretion adversely to effect procedure will be reduced. He said that with this nomination, the access of tax payers to the Federal Tax Ombudsman would be better and more effective.

He said that it would be beneficial for business activities and also for the business environment of the country. Mian Rehman Aziz Chan said that FTO was established to provide speedy and cost free redressal of any person’s grievances arising out of corruption or maladministration of tax functionaries.

He said the tax payers who are facing arbitrary and discriminatory behavior, delays, in-competencies, repeated notices, unnecessary calls and prolonged hearings will now get relief. He said that matters related to illegal methods of tax recovery will also be sorted out. The aggrieved taxpayers from tax authorities would also get relief, he concluded.
