Poland’s foreign minister assures full support in evacuating Pakistan citizens from Ukraine

Mar 1, 2022: In a telephonic conversation, with Poland’s Foreign Minister, Pakistan’s foreign minister discussed bilateral ties as well as the evacuation of stranded Pakistanis from war-hit Ukraine.
The two sides discussed Pakistan-Poland relations as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest, a Foreign Office statement said. FM Qureshi “highly appreciated” the Polish side for full support and facilitation in the evacuation process.
He further said that Pakistan was looking forward to continued support from the Polish government in this difficult time. The Polish Foreign Minister assured full cooperation and facilitation from Poland in the evacuation process. So far 606 Pakistanis have been evacuated from Ukraine to Poland.
Recalling his first telephone conversation with the Polish Foreign Minister last September, Qureshi said that Pakistan had close ties with Poland and was committed to further enhancing them in all areas of mutual interest. Regarding the situation in Ukraine, FM Qureshi expressed Pakistan’s deep concern and stressed Pakistan’s belief that disputes should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.
The Foreign Minister noted that Prime Minister Imran Khan, during his recent visit to Moscow, had expressed regret over the situation and hoped that diplomacy could avert a military conflict. The Prime Minister added that the conflict is not in anyone’s interest and developing countries have always been the most affected economically.
Qureshi reiterated Pakistan’s strong emphasis on de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy. The two ministers agreed to remain in close contact.
